Vliegende Hollanders: the final

Two days ago, TV presenter Chimène van Oosterhout won the final of SBS 6 ski jumping competition "Vliegende Hollanders: Sterren van de Schans" which attracted 562.000 viewers (market share: 7.9%). These viewing figures measured by "Stichting KijkOnderzoek" are very disappointing if you compare them with Nederland 1's "Flikken Maastricht" (1.771.000 viewers/market share: 24.5%) and RTL 4's "Everybody Dance Now" (1.432.000 viewers/market share: 20.2%). After the success of the celebrity diving show "Sterren Springen op Zaterdag", SBS 6 wanted to repeat the feat with "Vliegende Hollanders" but the public was not captivated. Even Patty Brard as a member of the jury admitted in a recent interview that the program was "wrongly edited" (see news posted on March 4th 2013).

Patty "rather in the tabloid press than on the public TV network"

Patty Brard is a lucky TV personality. She is not only on SBS 6 (Sterren Springen op Zaterdag, Vliegende Hollanders, Shownieuws) but also works for RTL 5 (Wie is de Reisleider?, Echte Meisjes op de Prairie, Snog Marry Avoid?). It is a hectic TV season for the diva. In a recent interview published by NRC Handelsbald, she said that she "would rather appear in the tabloid press than on the public TV network". "I'm a dirty thing according to the "publieke omroep" and accused of "selling out", she explained. "I prefer to be impersonated by RTL 4's TV Kantine than by AVRO's Koefnoen. Carlo and Irene are puppets, so absurd and funny. Koefnoen is villainous and makes me angry," she added.

Today is the day when we celebrate all the women of the world, and stand up for women's rights. In Hollywood there are plenty of well-known feminists that fight for getting the attention all these strong women deserve. Here are some:

Reese Witherspoon has supported women organizations her entire career, and is very active when it comes to fighting domestic violence, especially when it comes to her being an ambassador for make up company Avon. "Domestic violence is an issue that affects 1 in 3 women all over the world. Women in other countries aren't educated or have a difficult time getting to schools and Avon is dedicated to raising awareness around the world.", she stated in a speech about the company.

We should all take lessons from them (even boys). Happy International Women's Day!

Char's probable comeback on Dutch TV via Patty

A couple of days ago, Patty Brard posted a nice picture of herself with José Hoebee, Char Margolis and her friend Mirjam. I wondered why she did so. Now I know the answer. The world famous medium Char Margolis might be back on RTL 4 with a new program because of Patty. The Dutch viewers know the American psychic very well thanks to her TV show simply entitled "Char" which aired from 2002 to 2010. She later disappeared from Dutch television and RTL wants the right format for her comeback. Recently Patty taped a pilot. She told "Shownieuws": "I was allowed to bring two persons who wanted to have one of her readings. I chose José Hoebee because she didn't have the chance to say goodbye to her husband when he died. She felt guilty. And my friend Mirjam who suffers from cancer, she wanted to know how it would end."

It's not the first time that the ex-Luv' singers deal with paranormal issues. In late 2008, Patty accompanied Marga Scheide when she had a very emotional reading performed by Char. Moreover, in 2009 José and Marga were guests on a RTL 4 high-rated paranormal program "Het Zesde Zintuig" which was about the mysterious death of their record executive Bart van de Laar. In addition to her participation in the popular "De Nieuwe Uri Geller" series, Miss Brard appeared three years ago in a SBS 6 late night special "Patty, het medium" in which she developed her clairvoyant skills .
