Pop superstar Madonna has paid $12 million (£6 million) for her sixth house in London.

The 10-bedroom townhouse sits next door to the family's eight-bedroom home in the Marylebone area of the British capital.

The Like A Virgin hitmaker and husband Guy Ritchie also own two nearby properties for their staff, and two more houses in central London.

The couple paid almost twice the amount its former owner, designer/developer Paul Davies, paid in August of last year (06).

The 48-year-old singer, famed for constantly reinventing her image, was thrilled when her Kabbalah mentor Karen Berg told her about a "rejuvenating" product which helps keep lines and wrinkles at bay.

A source told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "The product uses natural salts and minerals from the Dead Sea and claims to have extraordinary rejuvenating powers. Madonna is hooked. She has started using Laline products on her face morning and night, and all over her body.

"She could clearly afford to buy far more top of the range creams but it's the Israeli ingredients that have her hooked."

Madonna, Tobey Maguire, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rupert Everett have been named in a book exposing lousy celebrity tippers.

New York waitress Katherine Taylor has written a novel, 'Rules for Saying Goodbye', in which her heroine - also called Katherine Taylor - lists the worst tippers.

Taylor confirmed through her publisher, Farrar, Straus and Giroux, that she has worked as a West Village bartender and promised all the celebrity anecdotes in her book are true.

One extract reads: "Gwyneth Paltrow came in. I wanted to tell her that I had been making a list and she was on it, but Gwyneth was not stingy, only stupid. I thought she probably couldn't calculate 15 per cent."

Everett and Madonna are named for leaving no tip, while Maguire, Barbra Streisand and John Travolta's wife Kelly Preston are listed as giving very small tips.

Another anecdote from the book claims "Paul McCartney was once too drunk to tip".
